Quilter, Wife, Mother and Kiwi
My journey into the quilt world is still in its infancy. Having a background in textiles I came into the quilt world in 1998.
I draw my inspiration from the world around me, whether it is from my travels, my background or culture or friends.
I find that most of my quilting has strong emotional significance, although visually subtle within my works, the process of creation is therapeutic. When engrossed in cloth and stitch I am at my most excited and focused, especially when using the stimulating and fulfilling, vibrant colours that I love.
I am always striving to progress and advance my knowledge and technique within the world of fabric art, and enjoy taking a variety courses that help me achieve this. I am passionate about passing this new found knowledge onto other quilters through my classes
We are now settled back into Farnham UK, With Terry retired we will spend our time between New Zealand and the UK. I shall be available for teaching your groups in both locations send me an email.
My travels took me on another cultural adventure as my husband and I moved to Bucharest Romania for a posting. this was exciting and too short.
Discovering new cultures and landscapes is something that inspires my work. Places such as Kenya, England and New Orleans are represented in previous pieces. I have had many experiences all across the world. In the future I would like to travel around Asia and see how their rich fabric producing culture would inspire me.
